Your Summer Starts Now

Up Front

Florida Summer is here – goodbye dry Spring! Nothing compares to the benefits rainwater provides to our plants, trees, and lawns. We welcome the rain and the summer heat bringing our area to its “sub-tropical” climate which is just perfect for our plants.

Summer brings out the vibrant colors of Crape Myrtle. Watch for beautiful trees to be in full bloom as well as Hibiscus, Ixora, and Bougainvillea. The poinciana are also blooming now, as well as the Jacaranda trees.

It is time to truly enjoy the artistic value that has been cultivated throughout the year. We are now seeing recovery in material that weathered the storms – this is prime growing conditions. The transitions of textures, colors, and proportion of the plant elements all combine to create rhythm, charm, and visual experience that only the lush summer months bring. Enjoy this special time in your garden.

Have a safe summer and don’t forget to use your sunscreen!

All Hands on Deck

The Construction Department has been hard at work for months revitalizing our clients’ landscapes and bringing life and color back to their properties.

Our irrigation and drainage crews are focused on flushing saltwater, restoring soil health, and repairing or restoring irrigation and drainage systems if they are damaged. Saltwater intrusion and prolonged standing water around plant roots can deprive them of oxygen, introduce toxins, and lead to fungal diseases—sometimes not visible until weeks or months later. Starting irrigation systems and rinsing with fresh water as quickly as possible is key to recovery.

As we approach the 2025 hurricane season, be sure to prepare not only your home but your landscape as well. Use this checklist to protect your property:

✅ Trim dead limbs, fronds, and coconuts
✅ Cut back branches near roofs, windows, and power lines
✅ Haul away trimmings regularly
✅ Unplug irrigation controllers and lighting transformers
✅ Bring potted plants and lawn decor indoors
✅ Stake newly planted or loose trees

At Hazeltine Nurseries, we believe great landscape design is where creativity meets precision. A successful design isn’t just beautiful—it’s functional, thoughtful, and inspiring.

Our design process ensures every project meets that standard. It begins with an on-site meeting to understand your goals and vision. From there, we develop base plans, conduct a thorough site analysis, and craft a functional concept that blends your needs with the natural character of the property.

Before sharing the concept with you, our full design team reviews and refines it. We then gather your feedback and finalize construction documents to bring the vision to life.

The result? A landscape that’s orderly, engaging, and in harmony with its surroundings—designed to enhance how you live and feel outdoors.
